Festivals & Events:
What Color is Gray? with Tim Deibler
Friday – Monday | 1:00 – 5:00pm | $365 March 16 – 19, 2018 (Students must bring required materials on their own.) Gray or Grey? The correct spelling of the term is almost as confusing as its meaning: gray can be dull, nondescript, and bland, or it can be something between black and white, a color that spans the spectrum of these two extremes. Dull is the last thing we want our paintings to be, but the color gray can actually bring depth, intensity, and dimension to our paintings. In this new, four-day workshop, artist Tim Deibler will show students how to mix and use colorful grays with a limited color palette to strengthen their paintings. Referencing photographs and still life arrangements inside the studio, students will dive into the rainbow of gray! Whatever the style or subject matter, this workshop will provide a key foundational tool to instantly improve students’ work. Students may work in oils or acrylics, and should be sure to bring their own materials (see list) and a bag lunch.
