The Art of Silkscreen Printing with Greta Neumann
Part hand-drawing, part stenciling, part batch production, silkscreen printing has an original and colorful aesthetic typified by bold and graphic designs. (Think Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe series or today’s political posters that mimic 1930s Federal Art Project style). In this two-evening workshop, students will learn all about the silkscreening process, one of the oldest forms of printmaking. Using a screen and squeegee, participants will experience the process of forcing ink through a stencil of their own design onto paper or cloth. As time allows, students may be able to mix unique colors and experiment with multiple registrations to produce fine art prints and/or T-shirts. Please bring your own plain white or single-color T-shirt(s) and some ideas for simple stencils. All other materials will be provided.
