Scratching the Surface with Krista Harris
Join visiting artist Krista Harris for a two-day workshop focusing on the intimate language of mark making. Working in black and white on paper, Krista will guide students through an exploration of gestural qualities using a variety of techniques and materials. Students will try both traditional and experimental ways of personalizing their own work with the authenticity of line and mark. Using charcoal, graphite, ink, pastels, acrylic paint, pigment powders, and oil sticks – as well as some found objects and experimental tools – students will learn how to create unique marks and textures in their work. Just bring a sense of adventure and a willingness explore the nature of materials and motion. Students should bring a bag lunch and snacks. This class has an list of optional materials but most supplies are provided.
