Portraits in Oil with Julee Hutchison
Saturday & Sunday | 10:00am – 4:00pm | $300 August 4 & 5, 2018 Students must purchase required materials on their own. Capturing the figure with oil paints can be frightening. Understanding the structure of the body and the face, creating luminous skin tones, relating clothing to the under structure of the body – these are all challenges that artists struggle with. In this two-day workshop, artist Julee Hutchison will guide students in painting both the figure and the face in vibrant, honest ways, while also teaching the importance of composition, stroke, color, and edges. One day will focus on the figure; the other day on the portrait (face), however, students will be free to paint either the figure or the face according to their own interests. Individual attention will be provided to help each student achieve their goals. This is your chance to step away from the landscape and explore the joy of figurative painting. Students should have some previous painting experience. Please refer to the materials list for a list of what to bring. Please also bring a lunch or substantial snack.
