Everything you need to know to compose, capture and edit the perfect digital photo. Join visiting photographer Ben Jacobsen for a four-day photography intensive. From getting to know your camera and shooting in the field to the ins and outs of Adobe Lightroom, Ben will guide students through every aspect of capturing (and editing) the perfect image. Broken up into four separate classes, each session will cover a different aspect of photography. Students are welcome to take all or just part of the course. (Day 1) January 16, 1:00 – 5:00pm: Know Your DSLR Camera – An introductory class to help students understand what their camera is able to do, how to choose the right settings, and the basics of digital photography. (Day 2) January 17, 1:00 – 5:00pm: Field Photography – An indoor/outdoor shooting excursion (weather permitting). Class will begin indoors with a basic overview of camera techniques, settings, and practices before moving outside for either in-town or ski mountain action photo shooting. (Day 3) January 18, 5:30 – 9:30pm: Introduction to Lightroom – This class will cover the basics of photo editing software Adobe Lightroom and how it differs from Adobe Photoshop. An indoor class, this session will also cover some basic digital photography concepts that are also used in processing digital images. (Day 4) January 19, 5:30 – 9:30pm: Advanced Lightroom & Photoshop Lab – Bring your laptop and images for a hands on editing lab in advanced Photoshop and Lightroom techniques and tricks. Students will work on their own photos, with help and guidance from Ben. STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: Digital SLR camera (no iPhones) and corresponding charger and cables. For the Lightroom and Photoshop portions of the class, please bring a laptop with a free trial version or personal copy of Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop software installed.
