Exploring Precious Metal Clay with Christopher Beaver
February 17 – 19 | Friday 6-8pm, Saturday 10am-4pm & Sunday 10am-3pm | $275 tuition & materials Explore the very basics of silver metal clay with the incredibly humorous and talented Christopher Beaver. Have you ever wanted to work with metal but were intimidated by the metal smithing process? Precious metal clay is your answer. Permeated with microscopic elements of pure metals, this clay-like binder material can be formed, tooled and sculpted by hand. Whether a pendant, ring or earrings, the finished piece is then fired in a kiln and – viola! – you have a solid piece of metal jewelry. Students will come away with at least one or two finished silver pieces. Required for this this class is a great sense of humor, a willingness to learn, the ability to laugh at your own mistakes and letting your teacher drop the “f bomb” on occasion (it happens). IMPORTANT: This class will be held at Christopher’s home studio, down valley from Telluride (not at the Ah Haa School).
