Colors of the Earth: The Magic of Botanical Printing & Indigo Dyeing with Tricia Gourley | August 2 & 3
Botanical printing, also known as eco-printing, is a unique way to transform the surface of fabric using leaves and flowers. In this course, students will gain an understanding of the plants, equipment, tools, and processes needed for making colorful contact prints on fiber. Students will also explore with indigo, learning how to make an organic indigo dye vat and traditional surface design techniques. Shibori and a variety of clamp and string resist methods using will be taught using silk and cotton fabrics. Beginners are welcome; no previous experience is necessary. This is a Visiting Artist class, but cancellations may be made up to 14 days in advance in order to qualify for a refund (less a $25 administrative fee). PLEASE NOTE: This class is held at a private Telluride residence, not at the Ah Haa School.
