The Figure in the Landscape with Gregory Botts
Monday-Friday, July 14-18 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | $650 tuition + $150 studio/model fee (Students must purchase materials separately, see Materials List.) The nude is an ideal figure in art with a long history – from Greek vase painting and sculpture to Italian Renaissance painting, and on through contemporary painting. In this rigorous, week-long intensive, the landscape becomes the context for studying the figure and inspires a dialogue. Who is the figure? Is she an ideal, like a god? A contemporary figure? Or a memory of something else? Maybe just a feeling. Being able to draw the figure is a prerequisite for this class. Students will work with oil paints and produce 1-2 paintings per day. Travel easels available.
