Landscape Intensive with Hank Pitcher
Monday-Friday, July 7-11 | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | $650 tuition + $25 studio fee (Students must purchase materials separately, see Materials List via link.) The landscape is a perfect foray into painting. It can be intensely narrative or free and open, offering an entry into abstract painting. Situated in some of America’s most beautiful mountains and countryside, Telluride’s 360-degree views offer an amazing portal into landscape painting. Painting en plein air, students will immerse themselves in the beauty of the landscape. Hank, with the assistance of Gregory Botts, will teach the basics of landscape painting through color, composition, materials and criticism. Hank will encourage an individual response to the Telluride landscape informed by the principles and traditions of American landscape painting. Although the class will progress mainly through painting and critique, drawing is a prerequisite. Working in oil, students will produce 1-2 paintings per day. Travel easels available.
