Artist Talk - Hank Pitcher - Telluride Summer Landscape Intensive: The Landscape
After studying at UC Santa Barbara, Hank Pitcher went on to chair the art program of the UCSB’s College of Creative Studies, where he remains today. By co-teaching with botanists, geologists and entomologists on some of the University of California’s Natural Reserves, Hank has developed innovative classes that combine painting and the natural sciences. Moreover, through his many years of teaching and producing his own work, Hank has had an important influence on painting in California. His paintings are represented by Santa Barbara’s Sullivan Goss Gallery, and a recent survey of his paintings, “Hank Pitcher: A 40 Year Survey,” took place at Weigand Gallery, Notre Dame du Namur University, in Belmont California.
