Pinhead Institute Science Soiree: Dr. Ron Estler

Featuring Dr. Ron Estler, Fort Lewis College Pinhead’s Science Soiree lets you engage with scientists participating inour esteemed Scholars in the Schools program which enables students from schools throughout the region to interact with PhD scientists from around the world specializing in everything from nanoscience, to chemistry, tobiology, to climatology, and much more. Our scientists lead labs, workshops, and field expeditions for students in grade school through high school.  The pressure is on!  Dr. Estler will be on hand to speak about his fun and educational student presentation "Under Pressure: Fun with Air and No Air."  Dr. Estler will also tell us why he got into science, and why he made the choice to leave a prestigious teaching position at USC to teach instead at Fort Lewis, and why teaching science to kids of all ages is an important passion of his. Please join us FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2ND 5:30–7:00 PM THE RIVER CLUB 550 WEST DEPOT AVE, TELLURIDE FREE WINE RECEPTION, DONATIONS WELCOME Dr. Ron Estler has a Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from The Johns Hopkins University.  With Postdoctoral work at Stanford and Columbia Universities, Dr. Estler was named Colorado Professor of the Year in 2009 by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
