Leftover Salmon

Leftover Salmon

Colorado's own Leftover Salmon plays the Telluride Conference Center Friday, February 25 at 8pm wIth Opening Act Elephant Revival.

Leftover Salmon was formed by accident in 1989, when a local band, the Salmon Heads, asked members of the Left Hand String Band to fill some missing spots in its lineup. The synergy worked and the resulting quintet went on to pioneer its own genre- "Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass".  The progressive sound of Leftover Salmon is unmistakable: fluid, loose-limbed, and simultaneously rootsy and daring. Fusing an unrivaled improvisational fervor to a dizzying combination of bluegrass, Cajun, funk, Southern rock, boogie, Caribbean, Latin, and jazz influences, Leftover Salmon has earned a legion of diehard fans, critical accolades, and a reputation as one of the most exciting, engaging concert experiences to ever hit the road.

In August in 2010, the group released an exciting new DVD, commemorating their 20 year tenure. On December 30th and 31st, 2009, Leftover Salmon and Riffactory partnered to produce a live DVD of these two exemplary sold-out performances at the historic Boulder Theatre in Boulder, CO.  Filmed in HD, this DVD celebrates the band’s full circle musical journey which started on December 31st, 1989 when The Salmon Heads and Left Hand String Band decided to join together as one for a New Year’s show at the Eldorado Café in Crested Butte, CO.  There was a blue moon out that night, and it was back out for the 2009 shows as well, spurring the title of the new DVD – ‘Twice in a Blue Moon’. Included with the DVD, is an mp3 download of the DVD’s audio as well as exclusive bonus tracks.

Through the course of the 20+ years as a band, Leftover Salmon has performed music with such contemporaries as Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, Del McCoury, Peter Rowan, Pete Wernick, Col. Bruce Hampton, Oteil Burbridge, Bill Payne, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall, Pete Sears, Todd Park Mohr, Tony Furtado, Theresa Anderson, along with members of the The String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band and dozens of additional artists.  For more information visit
