Telluride Chamber Music Festival
The Telluride Chamber Music Festival has been bringing music to Telluride since 1973, offering chamber music as it was originally intended—up close and personal. The festival creates a spontaneous connection between audience and musicians that lifts the human spirit. Festival director Roy Malan is also the concertmaster with the San Francisco Ballet.2010 SPECIAL EVENTS
Thursday, August 12 at 5 p.m. - Free Concert and Picnic in Town Park. Go to Telluride Town Park for a casual evening of chamber music to kick off the season. Bring your own picnic at 5:00 p.m., and the concert begins around 6:00 p.m.
Friday, August 13 at 7:30 p.m.-Throwing in the Line, at the Sheridan Opera House. Special guests Carey Bell, Schumann, Weber and Schubert. Tickets are $25.
Saturday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m.- Ladies Night, at the Sheridan Opera House. Special guests Germaine Tailleferre, Fanny Medelssohn, and Amy Beach. Tickets are $25.
Wednesday, August 18 at 7:30 p.m.- Special Extravaganza, at the Palm Theatre. Special guest, Robin Sutherland, Carey Bell, Brahms and Vaughn Williams. Tickets are $25.
Friday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. – Free Children’s Concert. A special midday event is planned specially for the younger set (from preschool through high school). Adults are only admitted when accompanied by a child. Meet the musicians, see the instruments and learn more about music. Ice cream is served after the concert.
Friday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m.- Berlin Cabaret 1900, at the Sheridan Opera House. Special guest chanteuse Erin Neff. Vocal and instrumental combinations in period cabaret style. Tickets are $25.
Saturday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m.- Mozart and the Birthday Boys, at the Sheridan Opera House. Mozart, Barber (100th), Chopin (200th), Schumann (200th).
