Telluride Arts: Telluride First Thursday Art Walk

Telluride Arts Presents: Telluride Art Walk Thursday, January 2, 5-8pm


Contact: Kate Jones or Britt  970-728-3930 The First Thursday Art Walk is a festive celebration of the arts in downtown Telluride for art lovers, community and friends. Seventeen venues host receptions from 5pm-8pm to introduce their new exhibitions and artists.  A free Art Walk Map offers a self-guided tour that can be used at any time to find galleries that are open most days.  Listen to Open Art Radio on KOTO from 12-1pm on first Thursdays to hear interviews with the artists. Maps are available at participating venues and at the Telluride Arts offices located in the Stronghouse Studios + Gallery at 283 South Fir Street.Featured Art Walk Venues: (more info below)

The Daniel Tucker Gallery features photographer and filmmaker Ben Knight and abstract painter Brucie Holler. The East Room Gallery showcases paintings and mixed media from children who are attending the after school class, Art of the Seven Summits, ages 7-12.

Gold Mountain Gallery is pleased to introduce Adam Carlos, who recently relocated to Telluride from Nashville. A second-generation artist, Adam specializes in highly detailed, exquisite graphite portraiture and landscape drawings. Because of Adam’s ability to capture the true personality of his subject, his portraits are cherished by a nationwide clientele. In addition to his custom portrait work, Adam is also known for his Hands of Music series of Bluegrass and Americana musicians.

White Show & Local Jeweler Marki Knopp


 WHITE will feature artists of all different media working simply under the 'white' theme. Wine tasting by Wine Mine from 5:30-7:00.


Marki Knopp is a local bench jeweler who will be featured this art walk at Telluride Gallery.  Knopp specializes in pre-sixth century techniques of goldsmithing. She uses ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Etruscan methods. All of her work is made using pure 24k gold with is hand alloyed resulting in a brilliant yellow 22k gold. Every stone and piece of jewelry is one of a kind. Knopp will have a special presentation showing her tools and materials that she uses to produce her hand fabricated collection, which will be on display.

In her work, Ally explores the beauty and emotion of elephants. The elephants are fascinating. Fierce, beautiful, brave, sorrowful, injured, angry, grounded, wise, complicated, they are a never-ending source of inspiration and connection.  Ally Crilly lives and works in Telluride, Colorado. She grew up back East in New York.
