Walking Telluride's streets on a clear night is hard to describe. For some visitors, the stunning beauty of seeing the Milky Way for the first time leaves them speechless. Filmmaker Ian Cheney's documentary "The City Dark" (which was show at the 2011 Telluride Mountainfilm Festival) cleverly describes light pollution in the United States and asks the question "Do we see the stars?" With the nearest larger city 65 miles away, the only thing separating your eye from the stars is the small amount of storefront light on Main Street, minimal street lights and the light coming from the homes of the 1,200 full-time Tellurites. Take-in the beauty during you next visit! Oh, and check-out "The City Dark" to learn more about what our eyes see when we look up at night!
