Pedaling toward Zero
Emissions, that is.
The courageous Mountainfilm team of Drew Ludwig and Justin Clifton ventured out June 1st onto the paved (and unpaved) world for this 2,300 mile unsupported bike tour that will take them throughout Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. Along the way, they hope to make some new friends, see some old friends, find some local brews, and join your community with some films in hand. (Read about Day 1 and Day 2)
To what purpose you ask? Well, it's simple - Drew and Justin want to raise awareness on the positive effects of eliminating fossil fuels and this bike-powered tour gives them a chance, to set an example that they hope will be a catalyst for action for other like-minded folks. In the process, they have an amazing collection of select picks from Mountainfilm's repertoire of mountain-inspired films that they look forward to screening for audiences in each of their stops.
And who are these crazy riders? Drew Ludwig is a Telluride local who has led ten large expeditions to Antarctica, South America and Alaska as a guide to the seven summits. Plus he's easy to spot - his bike shoes are spray painted gold and there are cardboard flames coming from the back of his bike. Justin's day job is Director of Mountainfilm on Tour. The Zero Emissions Tour is Justin's way of expanding the tour to include new ways of educating and inspiring audiences. On top of that, he spends his time clinging to the sandstone big walls of Zion, paddling the rough waters of Georgia’s coast and biking the hills of Tucson.
Drew is still on the road and blogging to boot. Keep updated with stories of their cycling adventures on tour. There are stops all the way through July, with a culmination of the tour to take place at Summer OR in Salt Lake City July 21-24.
And, for those of you who want the tweet play by play, Drew has learned to the fine art of twittering so stay in touch here.
