Fall Foliage Hotline

Sj L 798

The first three of four phone calls I answered this morning were inquiries about the pace at which the leaves are changing. Telluride’s trees are the talk of the town. Every morning I wake up to another grove of vibrantly transformed aspens, as if they’ve given in to their golden beauty overnight. When will their peak foliage come, and how long will it last? All eyes are fixed on our mountainsides, wondering.

So what’s our favorite thing this fall? The fall foliage hotline: 800.354.4595. (Yes, there is a hotline.) Call for the most up-to-date “fall color report,” and plan your scenic drives, hikes and visits accordingly. This wonderful service is produced by the US Forest Service.

Fall is, arguably, the best time to visit Telluride. Every photograph is rich with color, and every day is met by perfect, crisp cool temperatures. What better way to take it all in than by a jeep tour? Better yet, if you are visiting from out of town package a jeep tour with lodging and save big. Read Stay & Play details here. Or, have you heard about Telluride’s first Photography Festival? Join the world’s most renowned photographers September 20-26 and participate in workshops, events and exhibits geared toward both amateur and professional photographers. Enroll in a class here.

No matter what your favorite fall escape is Telluride has it all: Mountain biking, hiking, jeeping, and photography. What’s your secret to enjoying this colorful season?
