Stronghouse Studios + Gallery
Telluride Arts’ Stronghouse Studios + Gallery is a lively hub of creative activity located in the historic Stronghouse Building at 283 South Fir Street in Telluride. The historic Stronghouse building was erected out of rubble in 1892 in Telluride’s original Warehouse District. Inside the building, a scale and a manual elevator endure as reminders of the early days. Today the stone and mortar structure provides a variety of spaces that serve as artists’ studios, a music room, a darkroom, a black box flex space, the offices for Telluride Arts and a light-filled gallery. The Stronghouse is open daily and visitors are welcome to tour the gallery and open artist studios. On first Thursdays, the gallery hosts artist receptions during the Telluride Art Walk from 5-8pm. The Stronghouse Studios and Gallery is a project of Telluride Arts, the community arts organization-serving artists since 1971. Telluride Arts can be found at www.telluridearts.org, 970 728 3930, at Telluride Arts on Twitter and Facebook, or at the offices located in the historic Stronghouse building at 283 South Fir Street, near the gondola in Telluride.
