Telluride Theatre: Dinner with Dionysus

 For Immediate Release

Telluride Theatre presents a premiere of an original show
Party Like its 1237 BC
an original play by Sasha Sullivan
in collaboration with the cast & crew

AUGUST 18-22 at 8PM
at The Ah Haa School for the Arts
300 South Townsend St

Dionysus god of liberation, winemaking, wine, animals, plants, fertility, of ritual madness, the persecuted god, the mad one whose appearance sends mankind into mania, the suffering and dying god - invites you to dinner. Completer with wine, food and plenty of ecstatic pleasure.

A summer tradition, the original devised work has been developed through a collaboration between The writer/director, choreographer, actors and the musicians.  The process began with an initial idea or theme and through intensive workshops involving full-company improv, theatrical exercises, physical training, dance and vocal work, it develops into a completely original full-length production.

“This year I chose the theme of Dionysus because I have always loved and have been interested in his myth.  As a god he represents everything that is creative, outsider and within nature.  He is very Telluride and all theatre.” States writer/director Sasha Sullivan.  “I think this is a fresh look at him as a God and what we can take away from his story for our own lives.”
