Wild Hare Snowshoe Scramble
Feb. 9 Race at the Bottom of Village Express (Lift 4)
TELLURIDE, Colorado (Jan. 04, 2014) – Snowshoers and outdoor enthusiast are invited to race around the base this Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Wild Hare Snowshoe Scramble hosted by Telluride Ski Resort’s Eco Adventures. The scramble will take place in the Mountain Village around the base area of Village Express (lift 4), and will consist of two events, a Fun-K 1K and a 5K, open to all people from beginners to experienced snowshoers. Those not interested in racing are encouraged to come out to watch and cheer as racers scramble through the snow.
The Funk-K is a family focused 1K race with prizes for the fastest child and for best costume. Pre-registration runs through Feb. 8 and is $5, day-of registration is $10. The 5K race will start at the base of Village Express where the racers will trot up Lower Boomerang, head over and up Village Bypass, hustle through the trees and finally dashing back down to the finish line at the base of Village Express (Lift 4). Pre-registration for the 5K is $15, and day of registration is $20. Snowshoes are included in the entry fee, but the snowshoe supply is limited. Pre-register through Feb. 8 at Eco Adventures or register day of from 3-4 p.m. at the base of Village Express (Lift 4) with the Wild Hare Scramble beginning at 4:30 p.m..
First place winners of the Men’s and Women’s 5K will receive New Crescent Moon snowshoes, a $250 value. Other prizes will be donated by BootDoctors and Jagged Edge.
