Telluride Mushroom Festival: Announces Special Culinary Events
TELLURIDE MUSHROOM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES SPECIAL CULINARY EVENTS
FARM TO TABLE DINNER, CHEF'S COOK OFF STREET PARTY, MYCO-BREW
(Telluride, CO) August 7, 2013 - The Telluride Mushroom Festival (TMF) is excited to announce a few exciting culinary events taking place August 15-18, 2013 The 32nd annual TMF takes place in beautiful Telluride, Colorado and the surrounding San Juan Mountains. TMF offers presentations and workshops on all things mycological including identification, cultivation, medicine and food.
This year's special benefit dinner, A Fungi Farm to Table Celebration, will take place on Wednesday, August 14th. Chef Blakely Stein of Lady Love Food will be hosting an intimate celebration of local, seasonal foods and cocktails. This event will feature exclusive edible and medicinal mushroom tastings, a cooking demonstration, cocktail hour with appetizers, and a decadent farm-to-table mushroom dinner with live music and local libations. Advanced registration at shroomfest.com is required as space is very limited. Tickets cost $100.
On Friday, August 16th, Telluride Mushroom Festival is hosting a Chef's Cook Off Street Party on South Pine Street. Due to overwhelming popularity the Chef's Cook Off, which used to take place at the Wilkinson Public Library, has expanded into a street party. In addition to chefs competing for the People's Choice Award, the Judge's Choice Award, and the coveted Chef's Toke, the first-annual street party will feature live music, booths representing regional non-profits, and a Smugglers beer booth. The Chef's Cook-off Street Party will take place from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. Tickets are free and open to the public, but must be picked up in advance at the Wilkinson Public Library or the Palm Theater Box Office.
Also on Friday August 16th, Smugglers Brewery will be hosting an artisan Beer and Cheese Pairing with Jackie Rebideau. Rebideau, a cheesemaker and founder of the Colorado Cheese Festival, will be pairing gourmet cheeses with Smugglers Brewery immune-boosting 'mycobrews,' the medicinal mushroom infused beers produced in partnership between TMF and Smugglers Brewery. Tickets for this event will be available during the festival at the box office and will cost $25 for non-festival pass holders. It is free for Pass Holders, but advanced registration is required for all.
On Sunday, August 18th at 12:30, Telluride Mushroom Festival is offering a Vibrant Living Cooking Class with Chef Blakely Stein. This is a rare opportunity to learn how to cook wholesome gourmet food. Classically trained at The French Culinary Institute, Stein offers healing through delicious food. Stein emphasizes the importance of becoming present through whole living foods by teaching quick and easy recipes that are nutritionally and spiritually charged. Tickets are $45, which includes a full meal. Seating for this event is very limited, so register now at shroomfest.com.
Telluride Mushroom Festival Passes are on sale now and selling quickly. Full passes cost $160 and are available at shroomfest.com. Tickets to individual events will be available during the festival at the Palm Theater Box Office for $10-$20.
