Two Local Bands Featured in the Telluride Jazz Festival Band Contest

Telluride – February 20, 2012 – Each year, musicians selected by the Telluride Society for Jazz compete in a national contest with the winning band earning a performance spot at the Telluride Jazz Festival. The winner is decided by a public vote making the Telluride Jazz Festival one of the few events that gives the attendees a chance to participate in the festival's lineup selection.

For 2012, two local bands are competing in the contest, Mike Pale’s BluOrbit and Mike Enriquez’ ORGANism. Everyone in town understands how special it would be to play on the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage at one of the summer’s major festivals, so let’s all help one of the local bands earn that spot.

This year’s winner will perform on Friday August 3 alongside Soulive, Marco Benevento Trio, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and more.

Voting occurs between now and March 12 at the 2012 Band Contest tab on the Jazz Facebook page:

The actual voting page is:

You can vote for one band, once a day during the voting period.

The 36th Annual Telluride Jazz Festival takes place August 3-5, 2012 in Telluride Town Park. The lineup includes Victor Wooten Band, Funky METERS, Soulive, Roy Hargrove Quintet, Marco Benevento Trio and many more.
