Kim Uchiyama :  Rhythms of Nature

Kim Uchiyama is a painter’s painter, a painter that good painters respect.  The artist looks to nature and the rhythms of nature for inspiration.  That is probably why they are some of the most engaging paintings using the structure and motif of horizontal bands. As Uchiyama describes, “Everything in my work originates from a sense of place. Light and color in my paintings are not arbitrary decisions. Instead, they are the organic result of something that I have experienced, seen, felt."

Tony Stromberg Photographs : A Window Into The Wild

Featuring only original edition prints, Headwater Contemporary exhibits a window into the world of horses in all of their glory.  Sepia and black and white archival photographs by Tony Stromberg are featured. Tony’s work is an homage to the equine spirit and a celebration of their remarkable presence in our lives.  Often times referred to as “visual poetry,” his images truly embrace and reveal the incredible beauty and grace of the horse.

William Eckert: Parallax

Parallax: a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight.

In the current exhibit at Gallery 81435 that runs through September, Telluride artist William Eckert explores the concept of perspective through a series of bold, large-scale, abstract paintings.  Using latex paint and oil stick on canvas, in four by four and five by five feet format, the artist has moved soundly into an abstract mode.

William began producing artwork at the advent of WW Iraq, most of which was political statement in various forms of metals, steel and copper foil.  The current exhibit represents a shift away from the political to a commentary on the place of icons within American culture.

Gurhan Trunk Show

Lustre Gallery is pleased to host a trunk show featuring Gurhan’s stunning jewelry collections in pure gold and silver.  Gurhan, the international award–winning jewelry designer, is renowned for pioneering the revival of pure 24 karat gold jewelry.  Before Gurhan, pure gold jewelry had not been made since ancient times.  Today, there is only one original Gurhan. Whether his unique designs are wrought solely in pure gold or “kissed” with it in his popular tri-tonal sterling silver line, there is no mistaking a Gurhan piece. Women around the world, celebrities and collectors alike, seek out his jewelry for its distinctive design, versatility, and artisanal quality.  But most of all, it is the signature Gurhan aesthetic that draws a woman to his creations. Gurhan’s “fingerprints” on his jewelry are the essence of the brand - hand-hammering and natural imperfections, evidence that every piece is painstakingly crafted by hand. This highly personal dimension resonates with the woman who owns it - a woman whose life is as rich and varied as the Gurhan jewelry she chooses to wear.
