Twelve Views of Lone Cone is a show of the twelve woodblock prints Meredith made during and after she studied with Tom Killion at the Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, CO. The Japanese-Style Woodcut Printmaking & the Western Landscape class was in June of 2012 and Meredith has been working on this project ever since, both here in Colorado and in northern Spain this past year.
Meredith’s new series of prints were made on a press or done by hand with a barren using the Japanese method. These prints explore the method of carving the woodblock and Meredith’s inspiration of the 36 Views of Mt. Fuji by Hokusai. Hokusai was the original reason Meredith pursued this new way of working, made possible by a Small Grant award from Telluride Arts, which allowed Meredith to take the class.
The exhibit opens for Art Walk on Thursday, October 3rd from 5-8pm, and will run through November.
