Mountain Village will open portions of trails within the Mountain Village Bike Park June 21

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE, Colo. – June 14, 2012 – Portions of the Mountain Village Bike Park will be open to the public beginning June 21, in time for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. In response to both community and merchant concerns about the delayed opening of the park due to a sewer line improvement project, the town has re-routed construction traffic and staging. The sewer line improvement project is scheduled to conclude July 18, at which time the remainder of the bike park will be opened to the public.

The following Mountain Village Bike Park trails will be open for downhill bike enthusiasts

June 21:

·       No- Brainer Trail for access to the World Cup Trail

·       No-Brainer Trail for access to Pan-Coaster Trail

Please note, these trails are black diamond and double black diamond for expert riders only. No-Brainer Trail is only open to the point where it intersects the World Cup Trail. In addition, trails outside the Mountain Village Bike Park are currently open, and they include Sheridan Trail, Coonskin Loop Trail, Village Trail, See Forever Trail, Boomerang Trail, Jurassic Trail, Big Billie’s Trail, Meadows Trail, Boulevard Trail, and Wasatch Connection. Both Basin Trail and Prospect Trail will open, as they always do, on July 1 once the elk calving season has concluded. Other trails that are open, but to hikers only, include the Ridge Trail and Telluride Trail.

The Town of Mountain Village is grateful to the community for their patience and understanding. Mountain Village, situated in the heart of the breathtaking San Juan Mountains, was incorporated in 1995 as a home rule municipality. Its founders envisioned a European-style ski-in/ski-out, pedestrian-friendly destination resort that would complement the historic mining town of Telluride. A three-stage gondola transportation system connects the Town of Mountain Village with the Town of Telluride. Situated at 9,500 feet, Mountain Village is comparably a world apart from other resorts: it is innately spectacular, beautifully orchestrated and planned, and overflowing with style, charm and sophistication.
