Erik Weihenmayer to host Telluride’s first ever Dinner in the Dark January19th, 2013 , 5:30 p.m. at Hotel Madeline.
Dinner in the Dark is a night of truly sensory experiences, featuring cocktails, a three course gourmet dinner in the dark, a live auction and an inspiring presentation by Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind adventurer to summit Mt. Everest & a highly-renowned motivational speaker. Funds raised will support the No Barriers Summit, a four-day event for individuals with disabilities scheduled for August 2013 in Telluride & supported by Telluride Adaptive Sports Program.

The 2013 No Barriers Summit will combine hands-on clinics, outdoor excursions, films, art, music, keynote addresses, leadership exercises and symposia for 400-600 attendees, many of whom have disabilities. At the No Barriers Summit it is possible to envision a world where the power of the human spirit transcends barriers. The Summit will bring together scientists, inventors, academics and participants in a four-day outdoor extravaganza. The Summit is about community, innovation, discovery and exploration. This family-friendly event is for people of all ages and abilities.
About Erik Weihenmayer
On May 25, 2001, Erik Weihenmayer became the only blind man in history to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak – Mount Everest. In 2008, when he stood on top of Carstenz Pyramid, the tallest peak in Austral-Asia, Weihenmayer completed his quest to climb the Seven Summits – the highest mountains on each of the seven continents. Fewer than 100 mountaineers have accomplished this feat.
