Americana Music Weekend
Imagine summer days in the mountains at 9,000 feet filled with hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, golf, or just hanging out on Colorado Avenue with a cup of coffee. Your nights will be filled with the best in acoustic Americana singer-songwriter music, present in the intimate (240-seat) historic Sheridan Opera House, a jewel of a restored, century-old theater in the old mining town nestled in a Colorado box canyon.
Americana - where folk, country, rock'n'roll, and the blues come together to have a party.

Shannon Whitworthlives in the mountains of North Carolina. Her 2008 album No Expectations was one of the best of the year, mixing bluesy, sultry, mesmerizing vocals over acoustic instrumentation.
Kevin Welch and Walt Wilkins are two of Austin’s best songwriters, participating Thursday night in a classic song swap. Kevin works around the world with Kieran Kane and Fats Kaplan in the award-winning band Kane/Welch/Kaplan, while mentoring a host of young Austin writers. Walt’s style draws comparisons to legends like Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark.
Slaid Cleaves is a true troubadour with one foot in Maine and one foot in Texas, a great storyteller whose characters come to life in song.
Tift Merritt is a soulful performer with a gorgeous voice and moving songs. Her album Another Country was another of 2008’s best.
Irene Kelley is a Nashville writer with a warm and wonderful set of bluegrass-tinged songs. She is making her third trip to Telluride.
Eric Bibb is one of the greatest acoustic blues musicians in the world. His gospel-inflected blues reflect deep roots in the African-American folk tradition.
