Telluride Painting School Plentiful Nature: Observing & Composing with John Goodrich
Monday – Friday for two weeks, October 17 – 28 | 9am – 1pm | $1,045 Includes 24-hour access to the painting studio between class sessions, easels/gatorboards, and general studio supplies. (Students need to supply required materials on their own.) The goal of this intensive course is to re-create from observation the full energy of nature. Participants will concentrate on the way colors and forms animate impressions of light, weather, space and weight. We’ll frequently consider how the masters – from traditionalists like Corot and Innes to modernists like Matisse – saw and captured the world around us. Oils are preferred for this class, but acrylics are suitable too. This course will begin with a casual meet and greet with the instructor and students on the evening of Sunday, October 16th. Students will be able to set up their materials on Sunday evening in preparation for Monday’s (October 17th) 9am start. John Goodrich is a painter who exhibits, teaches and writes about art in New York City. His paintings have been exhibited at Bowery Gallery, Elizabeth Harris Gallery, Kouros Gallery and Lori Bookstein Fine Art in New York City, and have received notice in The New York Times, The New York Sun, and The New York Observer. He teaches studio classes at the National Academy School of Fine Arts, Haverford College, and Borough of Manhattan Community College.
