Basic Batik & Shibori Session II with Kathy Green
Tuesdays & Wednesdays, February 14 – 22 | 6-9pm (2-5pm on February 14th only) | $385 tuition & materials Explore silk dyeing techniques to create colorful prayer flags. Discover the magical, colorful world of silk dyeing and batik. Spend four evenings (with optional open studio time on the weekend) learning about color, surface design, silk painting, wax resist, shibori, and other silk dyeing techniques, culminating in a final prayer-flags project. Dyes used during class are appropriate for silk and wool, as well as fabric blends that contain silk and wool. Finished pieces will be dry cleaned, to remove wax, and then dye set. (Please budget an additional $8 per piece for dry cleaning.) The materials fee includes seven scarves/fabric pieces, with the option of purchasing more fabric from the instructor. This class is limited to six students. On February 14th, class will meet from 2pm – 5pm. All other days will be 6pm – 9pm. Open Studio work times will be available during the course – dates and times TBD. PLEASE NOTE: This class is at the Stone Building (not at Ah Haa). Materials fee covers seven scarves/fabric pieces.
