Alternative Surface Techniques in Pottery (Ages 16+) with Jacey Depriest Tuesdays, July 7 – 28 | 6 – 9pm | $200 tuition + $50 materials Explore playful and beautiful alternatives to traditional glazing on hand built, functional ware – sgraffito, image transfer, monoprinting and mishima. For beginning and experienced potters alike. In this class, students will incorporate their own unique graphic elements into completed handbuilt ceramic projects. Using greenware and focusing on specific techniques each class, projects will include sgraffito butter dishes, image transfers on handbuilt plates, slip monoprints on plates or cups, and mishima bowls – a surface decoration technique using incised lines and colored slips. This class is perfect for beginner students wanting to discover the limitless possibilities of clay, as well as experienced ceramicists looking to expand their finishing techniques beyond traditional glazing.
