Festivals & Events:
Acoustic Rock Jam with Tuck Gillett
Bring your instrument and learn some acoustic folk rock songs in a group setting. One-hour lessons are followed by an open jam session. Think: Joni Mitchel, The Eagles and Counting Crows. Many of us like playing Joni Mitchel, The Eagles, James Taylor, and acoustic folk rock from later decades like 4 Non-Blondes and Counting Crows. Each week, we’ll take an hour to learn the melodies, riffs, and accompaniment patterns of one or two songs. From 7 until dark, we’ll jam on those songs and others. We’ll learn melodies, chord progressions, how to both lead and accompany, and most of all, we’ll learn to play and communicate socially. Community members are encouraged to join the post-lesson jam, which is free. PLEASE NOTE: This five-week class is for those with some experience; students must be able to play either chords or melodies on their instruments. Suitable instruments: guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, ukulele, keys, and bass. The jams can include hand drums. No smoking and no alcohol, please. Pre-registration for the lesson portion is required.
