5th Annual Photography Prize Exhibition: Face to Face: Self Portraits that Tell a Story
This year, the Ah Haa School’s 5th annual Photography Prize dares you to turn the camera on yourself! Locals and visitors alike love Telluride for its mountains and aspens, its hikes and skiing, and all the beauty and vibrancy of the box canyon’s landscape. Telluride’s outside is spectacular, but its ‘inside’ is magic. The community, performances, parties, parades and places are the heart of the town and Ah Haa wants to see your place in it. Ah Haa invites everyone to submit creative, unusual ‘selfies’ that tell your Telluride story: capture yourself preparing for a performance, DJ-ing on Koto, in a costume contest or strutting your stuff in a parade. All entries will be accepted, and cash prizes will be awarded based on the unexpected, unusual, undeniably Telluride nature of your self-portrait. Don’t just smile for the camera – capture your most honest Telluride experience! Entry Criteria & Application Process: The entry fee is $10. You may pay online or by calling (970)728-3886 with your credit card information. Photographers may submit only one image. Self-portraits may be in color or black and white. The photographer must appear in some way in the photo. The photo must be recognizably taken in Telluride, CO – a street sign, local landmark, or some other Telluride specific element must be notable. Initial entries must be digital and submitted in JPG format, scaled to under 1MB. Larger files may be requested at a later date. Each photograph must have an accompanying text of up to 150 words describing the story behind the photo. Photographers should also submit a brief biography. Judging criteria will include originality, quality of image, composition and relevance to capturing the essence of Telluride. Submit by August 3, 2017. Online entry form coming soon.
