At the time of its construction, the Lewis Mill was a state-of-the-art concentration mill, and served as a new model of mill design that was moving away from the traditional stemp mill technology to later full chemical floation. The Lewis Mill is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places and plays a vital role in the history of the mining industry in Colorado.
