Sons of Fathers & Honey Island Swamp Band

The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents two up-and-coming bands Sons of Fathers and Honey Island Swamp Band. Texas bred Sons of Fathers features David Beck and Paul Cauthen. (Beck's father is Bill Whitbeck, a renowned touring bassist with Robert Earl Keen and Cauthen began singing in his grandfather's churn at the age of seven.) Their self titled debut album "Burning Days" was helmed by legendary producer Lloyd Maines (Joe Ely and Uncle Tupelo) and the record find the band's deep American roots blossoming with vines of sonic Texas power, ragged rock and punk defiance. Come see one of Texas' most talked-about emerging artists. The night will finish off with Honey Island Swamp Band. The band has its roots in New Orleans but was started by displaced musicians in San Francisco after Hurricane Katrina devastated NOLA. They knew each other from all playing together in various bands back home, the band formed in 2005 and they've been playing ever since. Their sound is described as Bayou Americana with timeless songs, searing guitar, four part harmonies and a the powerful groove of Louisiana's stomp rhythm section. Tickets are $22 plus a $3 ticketing fee.
