MarchFourth Marching Band
The Sheridan Arts Foundation and SBG Productions presents a night of music meets circus act with Portland, Oregon's MarchFourth Marching Band (M4) on Wednesday, March 27. After developing a huge local following from playing the Telluride Jazz Celebration in 2011 and Telluride Blues & Brews in 2012, the SAF and SBG Productions, the driving force behind Blues & Brews, are partnering to bring this eclectic group back to Telluride. MarchFourth got its name from the date of their first show on March 4, 2003 when a handful of artists and musicians decided to put together a marching band for a Mardi Gras party. The band now plays more than 180 dates a year and is drawing fans of all ages for its unique marching band-themed costumes, percussion corps and brass. M4 is far from a march band in any traditional sense, even though they have paraded down main street before taking the stage in Telluride. The band is anchored by funky electric bass but will carry audiences to the African jungle, by way of Brazil with samples from the best of American funk, rock and jazz. Everything is tied together with high-stepping stilt-acrobatics and sexy dancers.
