Free Film - Man Ray: The Prophet of the Avant Garde
As part of the PBS American Masters series, Man Ray: Prophet of the Avant-Garde covers the life and artwork of this innovative modern artist with both clips of interviews and archival footage of the times he lived in. On Wednesday, April 11, at 6:00 p.m., the Wilkinson Public Library will be screening this film, hosted by a local artist. Man Ray was born in Brooklyn as Emanuel Radnitsky. He changed his name and moved to Paris in the early 1900s. Just under an hour long, this film presents a good look at a remarkable artist. The crispness of the images and the intelligent insights into the ideas of the avant-garde make viewing a great pleasure.
