Talking Gourds in Naturita
Every month hosts Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and Art Goodtimes welcome another poet to the Talking Gourds series. This month, Talking Gourds is becoming mobile with a live-stream being produced out of the Naturita Public Library. Our poet for this month is Danny Rosen. Danny Rosen has worked as a carpenter, geologist, science teacher, and for the last 17 years has run the Western Sky Planetarium, which he takes into schools throughout western Colorado providing astronomy education programs. He recently built the North Nineteen Observatory, a place for people to look at the “real” sky. Danny has been writing poems for most of his life and is author of the chapbook, That Curve. His poems have appeared in Poetry Midwest, Pinyon, Pilgrimage, Salt River Review, Santa Fe Poetry Broadside, The Nervous Breakdown, Mountain Gazette, and elsewhere. He has judged youth poetry contests a number of times in the Grand Valley and was the judge for the 2010 Mark Fischer Poetry Prize sponsored by the Telluride Council for Arts and Humanities. He lives among dogs north of Fruita. If you can't make it to Naturita, catch Talking Gourds online at www.telluridelibrary.org/wpltv or you watch it on Telluride TV Cable channel 12.
