Oriental Metal Techniques with Visiting Artist Harold O'Connor
Experiment with combining scrap silver and copper into alloys of Shibuichi and Shakudo. Form these materials into pendant forms known as spiculums. They are hand fabricated by forming a sheet of silver into a hollow, tapered spear shape. It has a soft twist, giving it a sense of movement. Learn to patina metal as well in this hands-on class. Harold has been a practicing goldsmith/teacher for over forty years. His works can be seen in private and public collection including the MOMA in New York, The Smithsonian Institution in DC and The Goldsmiths Hall in London.
