Feasts of Spring with Dr. Susanna Hoffman

Every spring, friends, family, and loved ones gather together to honor the best moments Hallmark has to offer. For chef, anthropologist, and food writer Dr. Susanna Hoffman, these springtime celebratory moments offer a teachable moment within the realms of food and anthropology. With her expertise on display, Hoffman will be instructing about the food and history behind these celebrations in a new series at the Wilkinson Public Library called “Feasts of Spring.” Beginning on Thursday, February 9 at 6:00 p.m. this renowned author will provide a live demonstration of romantic finger foods in honor of St. Valentine. The menu for the evening combines simplicity with elegance as she will begin with a simple basil leaf dipped in champagne, and then move towards the infamous preparation of oysters Rockefeller. While the entrée will involve stuffing pork with mint and, she will conclude with a demonstration on the intricacies of chocolate butterscotch tarts and the preparation of a honey and almond swirl. This event is free and open to the public and includes a generous tasting at the end of each presentation.
