What: An annual 4th of July open recreational foot race, the "Telluride Classic - Rundola" goes from the Town of Telluride, up the front side of the ski area, paralleling the gondola, to the ridge. Telluride Foundation is the host, beneficiary and organizer.
Where: Runners start at the base of the gondola on the Town of Telluride side and finish at the top of the ridge. Runners and hikers will climb up the Telluride Trail (4,600 feet long, 40 feet wide with a 13% grade and an elevation gain of 1,810 feet) to the top of the gondola (or, a more direct route, if they so choose).
When: The run will start at 8 a.m. on July 4th. Awards will be held at the base of the gondola in the Town of Telluride at approximately 10 am.
Who: Anyone who wants to race, run, or hike! There will be several categories:
- Age group (based on age on race day)
- Baby in a Back Pack
- Kids to the Top of "Kids Hill"
The goal of the event is to incorporate an athletic event into the Fourth of July festivities. An athletic event seems to be the only thing missing from the fabulous weekend of festivities in Telluride. The event is put on by the Telluride Foundation and any proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation.
Registration: The cost is $30 and include a participant bag of goodies including a race t-shirt and meal voucher. Kids cost $12. To register visit www.telluridefoundation.org/classic
