The Roxbury Latin Glee Club
Founded in 1645, Roxbury Latin is the oldest school in continuous existence in North America.
The school has about 290 boys in grades 7 – 12. The Roxbury Latin Glee Club – limited to 80 voices –and the larger chorus, are open by audition to boys in grades 9 – 12. Their repertoire includes a diverse selection of sacred music, folk songs, musical theater pieces, and traditional songs for men’s chorus. Each year the Glee Club collaborates with a local girls’ school to perform a major choral work; in recent years, such performances have included Beethoven’s Mass in C, Faure’s Requiem, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. The Glee Club also makes a spring concert tour, which in the past has included Ohio, Tennessee, and Central Europe. Over 50 boys will tour this upcoming March within Colorado, including the March 17th performance in Telluride at the historic Sheridan Opera House.
