Avalanche Awareness Forum Series

FORUM: You Are the Rescuer: Avalanche Rescue and Beacon Use for the Backcountry

COST: FREE (but you may want to bring money to purchase educational materials, to register for Avalanche Courses or Clinics and/or Search and Rescue certificates)

Join the Telluride Avalanche School for a look at the ins and outs of avalanche rescue. You will learn what you should do if you get caught in an avalanche, how to use an avalanche beacon to rescue your friends, how to organize a rescue and what kind of avalanche beacon you should buy. This is a great opportunity to refine your rescue skills! The San Juan Field School (SJFS) Program Coordinator, Jon Miller will help show you the basics of an avalanche rescue and beacon use along with Josh Butson Director of the SJFS. Monday’s Forum will be followed by four free beacon rescue clinics. Sponsored by the San Juan Field School and the Telluride Ski Patrol.
