SLEEPING BEAUTY (SORT OF)
December 3, 4 and 5, 2010 at 6pm nightly
Performed by grades 6-8 at the Sheridan Opera House
Adults $13, Children 12 & under $11, and lap children free!
It’s opening night, and the Wiggly Knots Semi-Professional Theater Troupe is ready to astound you with their theatrical brilliance…if they can remember what show they’re performing. Thus begins the SAF Young People’s Theater’s newest comedic musical play written and directed by Jennifer Julia:
In the opening scene we meet Graciella, the play’s director, who introduces us to her wacky and highly dramatic cast and crew. There’s Roger, the stage manager who can’t seem to get anything right, Troy, the self-centered leading man, and Jessica, the leading lady who we later find out cannot sing a note. There’s also a boisterous chorus that plays a variety of parts, including lords and ladies, fairies, animals, and even a wacky janitor named Dwayne. Once the play is off and running, the well known tale of Sleeping Beauty begins…with a few minor mishaps along the way.
Featuring some fun non-traditional songs (Hey Mickey, Tainted Love, and many more) this madcap musical adventure showcasing the talents of 27 local students grades 6-8 is an unexpected twist on a familiar fairy tale that will leave audience members of all ages tapping their toes and rolling in the aisles.
Performances are December 3rd through December 5th at 6 pm. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for children 12 and under, and lap kids are free. Tickets are reserved seating and may be purchased online at www.SheridanOperaHouse.com
