The SAF Young People’s Theater is at it again, back with this season’s third full-length musical: Hansel & Gretel. Follow Hansel and Gretel through the shadowy woods to discover the deliciously tempting candy house and the wicked old witch who resides there.
With a script adapted by director Jennifer Nyman-Julia, this version of the beloved fairytale incorporates some other well-known storybook characters, such as the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf, the Three Bears, and a score of other woodland critters. (A gang of beautiful forest fairies will flit and float their way through the story as well.)
With enjoyable song and dance numbers, such as “Together, Wherever We Go,” “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” “Blue Skies” and many more, this is an excellent show for the entire family. At only an hour long with an intermission, it’s especially perfect for little ones. The play is performed by 27 local kids in grades 3 through 5.
Performances are April 30 through May 2, all at 6 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for children 12 and under. Lap kids are free.
