What's Going On This Week?

This weekend, Telluride will get funky with The Nth Power & Ghost-Note as they perform live at the Sheridan Opera House on Friday. Proving that soul music can be exponentially greater than the sum of its parts, The Nth Power is on a mission to share the light, so be sure to grab your tickets! Also on Friday and lasting through Sunday is Friends of the Library Book Sale. There will be books, CD’s and movies for sale, so make sure to get out and support the local library. On Saturday, the Imogene Race takes place. The race is from Ouray to Telluride over the 13,114 foot Imogene Pass and is 17.1 miles long. If you’re not participating, head out and cheer your friends and family on as they partake in this one-of-a-kind race. Lastly, on Thursday, the Sunset Blues Concert will kick of the 24th Annual Blues & Brews festival. Head to Sunset Plaza in Mountain Village for the free concert series featuring Monkey Junk and Brian Keith Wallen. This event is sure to get you ready for the spectacular lineup this year’s Blues & Brews has to offer, along with craft brews and the famous Grand Tasting.

An Evening w/ The Nth Power & Ghost-Note ft. MonoNeon: The Sheridan Opera House will get funky with The Nth Power & Ghost-Note with MonoNeon playing live in concert. Formed during an impromptu late-night jam at Jazz Fest 2012 in New Orleans, the relentlessly funky and soulful band believes in music as a higher power. Multi-Grammy Award winning artists Robert Sput Searight and Nate Werth take percussion out of the shadows and into the spotlight with their new project, Ghost-Note.

Friends of the Library Book Sale:  The Friends of the Library’s BIG USED BOOK SALE returns to the Program Room at the library on Sept 8 & 9 (Fri & Sat), 10:00-6:00, and Sept 10 (Sun), 10:00-12:00. Become a Friends member at the sale & get 4 books free. Early shopping for FOL members (new & old) & all sale volunteers on Sept 7 (Thu), 4:30-6:45. Kids get a free book on Saturday. $10 Big Bag Sale: Sat 4-6:00 & Sun 10-12:00. Volunteers are needed, especially for half-day Thursday & Sunday work shifts. Sunday volunteers earn a free Friend's membership.  

Imogene Pass Run: What began as a way to train for the Pike's Peak marathon in 1974 is now a full-fledged race. The race from Ouray to Telluride over the 13,114 foot Imogene Pass and is a 17.1 mile point to point mountain race. The pass is a 4x4 dirt road that passes through mining ruins, up jagged peaks, and above treeline. The runners finish at the Sheridan Opera House on Oak Street in Telluride. Remember to dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for any and all conditions. Visit the official Imogene Pass Run website for registration and further details.

Sunset Blues Concert: Join the fun in Mountain Village's Sunset Plaza for the FREE Sunset Blues Concert on Thursday, September 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm featuring Monkey Junk and Brian Keith Wallen. Sunset Plaza is just a short, beautiful gondola ride up the mountain from the town of Telluride! The event and gondola ride are free and open to the public, and the event is rain or shine.
