What's Going On This Week?

Mountainfilm

In Telluride, Memorial Day weekend is synonymous with Mountainfilm.  The Gondola has re-opened! These two things can only mean one thing – summer is right around the corner. Start your weekend by heading to Town Park for two Mountainfilm movie screenings: Ten Meter Tower and Blood Road starting at 8:45PM. On Saturday, support the Mountain Munchkins Daycare Program by participating in the Mountain Village Runs which include a 5K, 10K and half marathon. If you’re looking to learn about the history of Telluride, be sure not to miss the Historical Walking Tour on Thursday which is a fun and lively tour of the town. Also happening on Thursday is the 10-year celebration of the Telluride Valley Floor. Head to Ah Haa School for the Arts to celebrate the Valley Floor and examine Telluride’s Relationship to this protected piece of open space. The snow is melting and town is getting busy again, so get ready for another great summer season! Check out more on each event below.

Mountainfilm: Started in 1979, Mountainfilm in Telluride is one of America’s longest-running film festivals. Through the years, in and out of trends and fads, the Mountainfilm in Telluride Festival has always been best described by one unchanging word: inspiring. Far more than any other adjective, that’s how festival audiences describe their experience.

Mountain Village Runs: All proceeds from these trail races to benefit the Mountain Munchkins Daycare Program.

Historical Walking Tour: Meet at the Museum to join long-time local Ashley Boling and the Telluride Historical Museum for this fun and lively tour about town! Learn more about the people, buildings, and events that make Telluride unique. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum prior to 1:00, by phone at 970.728.3344 or online at www.telluridemuseum.org.

Love Your Valley Floor:  June 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of Telluride’s historic preservation of the Valley Floor. In partnership with the Valley Floor Preservation Partners, the Ah Haa School will commemorate this important occasion with an art exhibit and performance on June 1. Love Your Valley is a non-juried show meant to celebrate the Valley Floor and examine Telluride’s relationship to this protected piece of open space. From nordic skiing to biking to forest bathing to simply watching the grazing elk (or prairie dogs), everyone is invited to share their love for the VF!
