What's Going On This Week?

Peak Sheet Photo

We have been enjoying this string of blue bird days, and there are great events going on to enjoy with the sunshine! On Friday, head to the Telluride Conference Center for the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program Blue Party where you’ll celebrate the amazing network of sports and education programs for people with disabilities. Continue the celebration by making your way over to the Sheridan Opera house for Turkuaz live. You’ll dance the night away to the 9-piece band whose modern take on classic funk sound has established them as leaders in the funk revolution. Keep your dancing shoes on for Saturday & Sunday night as String Cheese Incident takes the stage at Club Red.  If you’re looking for something to get you into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, you’re in luck because starting Wednesday, Leftover Salmon is live at the Sheridan Opera house for three nights. Close out the week by attending Telluride Academy’s 2nd Annual Sunset Scramble. Prizes will be given for winners of all categories and best costume, so dress to impress! Check out more on each event below.

Telluride Adaptive Sports Blue Party: A party to celebrate the Telluride Adaptive Sports Program at the Mountain Village Conference Center. Tickets are $65 in advance and $70 at the door and includes a glass of award winning Emeritus Pinot Noir and there will be food from local restaurants. Music by the Anders Brothers will kick off the night.

Turkuaz: Turkuaz is a 9-piece “Powerfunk” outfit from Brooklyn, NY, whose modern take on the classic funk sound has established them as leaders in the funk revolution that’s currently taking place in the genre. Blending elements of Pop, R&B, and Soul with their distinct aggressive funk core, Turkuaz sounds like the musical love child of Sly & the Family Stone and Talking Heads.

String Cheese Incident- The bluegrass-based jam band The String Cheese Incident is comprised of mandolinist/violinist Michael Kang, guitarist Bill Nershi, bassist Keith Moseley, pianist Kyle Hollingsworth, and percussionists Jason Hann and Michael Travis.  Groove to their soulful tunes on Saturday & Sunday night at Club Red or enjoy a free concert on the mountain at Gorrono on Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m.

Leftover Salmon: The Sheridan Opera House celebrates St. Patrick's Day with three nights of Leftover Salmon. Looking back over the past 25 years of rootsy, string-based music, the impact of Leftover Salmon is impossible to deny

Telluride Academy Sunset Scramble: Come join the Telluride Academy's 2nd annual Snowshoe Sunset Scramble starting at The Beach. Prizes will be given for winners of all categories and best costume!
