What's Going On This Week?

Sunset 12.12.16

The holiday season is upon us and there’s nowhere else we’d rather be other than Telluride. The Ski Resort is now open and there are lots of events going on this week to keep you in the holiday spirit. Get out and support your community by checking out the 12th Annual FREE Rock & Roll Academy Winter Rock Concert. This awesome show will feature 11 all-kid bands comprised of students ages 8-18. After a night of rocking out, don’t forget to head to the library to make some personalized holiday cards and decorate cookies (yum!). After filling up on cookies, check out all of the fun holiday activities that are being held for the Olde Fashioned Christmas at Schmid Ranch which has been in operation since 1882! Find your Christmas tree, make a wreath and even visit with Santa. Later that night, dress up in your festive wear, stop in the Sheridan Opera House and celebrate the warmth of the holiday season with family and friends at the Telluride Holiday Gala & Benefit. Close out the weekend with some awesome music and dancing. The Wood Brothers will be live in concert at the Sheridan Opera house, something you won’t want to miss!

Olde Fashioned Christmas at Schmid Ranch: Celebrate the season with this FREE Telluride tradition! The Schmid Family Ranch is a Centennial farm on Wilson Mesa, about ten miles West of Telluride, Colorado. The family worked with the Nature Conservancy to preserve the entire ranch through a conservation easement now held by the San Miguel Conservation Foundation. Today the family’s wish is to share this unique property with the community while maintaining a way of life that honors the land.

The Wood Brothers Live: The Sheridan Arts Foundation presents the Wood Brothers live in concert at the Sheridan Opera House on Sunday, Dec. 11. A stalwart on the Americana scene, The Wood Brothers spend most of their nights singing to strangers, something they've become addicted to - not for attention it draws but rather for the connection they feel with their audiences.
