EVENT OF THE WEEK: Chocolate Lovers' Fling
A costume party where you dance, eat chocolate and enjoy adult libations? What's not to like?
For the last 19 years in a row, locals and visitors have planned costumes, eaten chocolate and danced the night away at the Telluride Conference Center all for a good cause. The San Miguel Resource Center's annual Chocolate Lover's Fling fundraiser has been a winter event favorite since its inception in 1995.
With past costume themes ranging from "The Love Boat" to "TV Land" and most recently "Vegas," participants go all out to win the cash-prize for best costume each year. The 2014 theme, "The Olympics" is sure to entertain another great year of clever attire.
Each year amateur and professional pastry chefs go head-to-head for the first-place for best chocolate dessert, designated by Fling attendees.
It's not just about the dancing and chocolate. Funds raised during the Fling benefit the San Miguel Resource Center, a grassroots non-profit organization working to end domestic violence and sexual assault in San Miguel County and the West End of Montrose county.
