Telluride Ignites with First Fire Festival
The stars aren’t going to be the only bodies of light brightening up the sky this weekend in Telluride. The first Fire Festival, Jan. 15-19, takes advantage of the short days with nightly displays of fire art followed by music and entertainment.
Beginning when darkness falls on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 8pm each evening, many forms of fire art from “art cars” to fire dancers to fire-emitting sculptures will take center stage on Main Street in Telluride and Heritage Plaza in Mountain Village.
Following the nightly free displays, ticketed events will draw people indoors including a performance by the highly animated March Fourth Marching Band on Friday night at the Telluride Conference Center. A gala event at the Deep Creek mine on Saturday features
With at least 20 different artists performing, the Fire Festival will add some fiery excitement to the weekend.
